Are you rather new to the recorder or are you in need of a refresher course? Or maybe you play soprano/tenor recorder and need to improve your skills on the alto.
Jody’s Step 3 classes are for recorder players who know the basics of playing (tone production, basic note reading, tonguing), but are working to improve skills with the sequential guidance of a teacher.
This 3-part online series will be presented through the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Sessions are interactive and participants are invited to ask questions and play their instruments for immediate feedback. All class music will be provided. Participants will have access to audio playalong files and can review recordings of the class sessions to enhance their own practice.
Topics:
–playing the notes in the 2nd octave
–refining dotted quarter note rhythms
–developing technical dexterity over the range of the instrument
–introduction to major scales
–playing in the context of duets and quartets
–developing facility with reading varied key signatures
Sessions will be held September 11, 18, and 25, at 6:00 pm Eastern Time via Zoom. Sessions will run 90 minutes. Participants should provide their own recorder (Yamaha YRA 302-B or equivalent alto recorder), a music stand, and a pencil for taking notes and completing some written exercises. Headphones and a good microphone for your computer are encouraged, but not required.
The fee for the 3-class series is $75, payable via PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, or check.
